What if JIM rejects my photo?
Send us proof of rejection within 30 days and we'll refund your RM 12 in full — or redo the photo at no charge.
I wear glasses — will that be a problem?
Yes — JIM does NOT permit glasses of any kind for the international passport photo, including clear-lens prescription glasses. Coloured contact lenses are also forbidden. You'll need to remove glasses for the photo.
Can I wear a hijab or other religious headwear?
Yes, JIM permits religious headwear, but the hijab must be DARK-coloured (preferably black). Light or patterned hijabs will be rejected. Forehead must not be covered.
What dimensions does JIM require?
35×50 mm print (different ratio from SG/ID — JIM is specifically 7:10), 413×591 px digital file, JPEG, 100 KB–1 MB, pure white background. We deliver a file that meets all of these.
Who can use the digital photo channel?
MyOnline Passport renewals; applications at Malaysian Representative Offices abroad (outside the SG/NY/London/HK/Melbourne/Jakarta Attaché list); child-under-4 applications; visa applications. Adult walk-in applicants in Malaysia or at Attaché offices use JIM live capture and don't supply a photo.
